Gunmetal Pendragon

Gunmetal Pendragon – The Azure Requiem

✦ Gunmetal Pendragon: The Shattered Core
⚙ The Garlean Crucible
Gunmetal Pendragon was not born a leader—he was forged into one.
Before the Empire took notice, he was a wandering blade—Xaela by blood, mercenary by trade. He drifted between warfronts and lawless regions, never staying long enough to form bonds or allegiances. Whispers followed him: tales of inhuman endurance, aetheric surges in battle, and a glow beneath his skin. He dismissed them all—until the Garleans came.During a fateful border skirmish, Gunmetal was captured and delivered not to a prison, but a secretive research facility buried beneath the frozen wastes of Ilsabard. The Garleans had begun Project Caelum Vinctus, an experimental endeavor to weaponize living beings by integrating them with synthetic aether cores. He became their prime subject.

🜁 Gunmetal Pendragon – The Aether Engine

Before the Experiments:
Gunmetal Pendragon was once a reclusive and wandering mercenary, a Xaela of unusual strength and resilience. His reputation for surviving battles that should have left him dead earned him the nickname the Wyrm-Walker—a nod to the way he seemed touched by something older, colder, and more arcane than mere steel. But it was that very resilience that drew the Garlean Empire’s eye.
The Experiment – Project Caelum Vinctus:
Gunmetal was captured during a failed ambush on a Garlean supply convoy. Instead of executing him, the imperials transferred him to a blacksite facility in the frozen north of Ilsabard—an experimental lab focused on artificial aether channeling. There, scientists were developing a living weapon that could contain and direct raw aether through its own body, bypassing the need for traditional magitek.
They implanted a prototype shard—a synthetic aether crystal fused from voidsent core and Allagan relics—into Gunmetal’s chest, directly over his heart. This crystal, called the Caelum Core, was designed to act as both a stabilizer and amplifier, turning his body into an aetheric conduit. Over time, the shard rooted itself into his flesh, binding with his soul and rewriting his internal flow of aether. The Aether Lines:
The glowing, lightning-like aether lines that branch across his body are not tattoos—they are scars and conduits. They formed as the crystal hijacked his natural aether channels, rerouting them into a synthetic lattice. These channels allow him to generate enormous bursts of power, but at a terrible cost: pain, instability, and a constant hunger for aether to feed the crystal.

The Escape and the n_root Experiment

When the Garlean blacksite collapsed during a rebel assault, Gunmetal should have died with it.
Instead, he was found—barely alive—by agents of n_root, an underground faction of technomancers operating within Solution 9. Recognizing the unstable brilliance of his transformation, they took him in, not as a captive, but as a chance to perfect their own designs.
He awoke in the sterile, cold halls of Solution 9, a secretive technocratic enclave hidden deep beneath the glass plains of Garlemald’s forgotten frontier. The scientists of
n-root — a covert division obsessed with the synthesis of magic and machine — had found him, broken yet unbowed.
Recognizing his extraordinary will to survive, they made him the subject of their grand experiment: a fusion of voidsent resilience, Allagan biotechnology, and their own advanced cybernetic engineering.
They purged the Core’s corruption through synthetic conduits—luminous circuits grafted beneath his skin to stabilize the rampant aether flow. His flesh was replaced with scaled plating, capable of withstanding both sorcery and steel. Horns were integrated into his cranial structure as aetheric regulators, while a prehensile tail of hybrid bone and alloy acted as both a stabilizer and weapon. When he emerged from the operating chambers, he was no longer merely mortal. He was something beyond—a fusion of dragon, machine, and man.

Project n_root

Even after the stabilizing augmentations performed by n_root in Solution 9, the Caelum Core within Gunmetal Pendragon remained volatile. Lightning-aspected aether surged through his electrope conduits with immense power, but lightning was never meant to be perfectly controlled—it moved on instinct.Seeking a solution, Gunmetal tracked a powerful Bolt Hound, a creature whose body naturally generated and conducted lightning aether. Unlike mages who forced lightning into shape, the Bolt Hound embodied it, moving and striking with the instinct of the storm itself.Their battle was fierce, lightning crashing against lightning as Gunmetal’s Caelum Core surged against the beast’s feral energy. In the final clash, Gunmetal deliberately overloaded the Core. Instead of destroying the creature, the Core resonated with it—drawing in the Bolt Hound’s feral soul and binding it within the Caelum lattice. The result was unexpected.Where lightning once raged uncontrollably within Gunmetal’s body, the Bolt Hound’s instinct now guided it. The feral soul acts as a living regulator, shaping the flow of lightning-aspected aether through his conduits with predatory precision. Now when Gunmetal fights, the storm within him moves with purpose. And some claim that beneath the crackle of lightning around his blades, a distant hound’s growl can still be heard.

Zahrah Pendragon

Zahrah Pendragon
Gunmetal's Wife

To most, Zahrah Pendragon is impossible to ignore. She walks with effortless confidence, her crimson eyes always studying the room, her smile resting somewhere between inviting and dangerous. Whether she's commanding a dance floor or standing beside her husband, there is an undeniable aura around her—one that tells people she isn't someone to underestimate.Long before she became known across Eorzea, Zahrah traveled as a performer, using dance as both art and weapon. Every step, flourish, and spin concealed years of discipline, allowing her chakrams to move as gracefully as ribbons before becoming instruments of lethal precision. Audiences saw beauty. Those unfortunate enough to face her in battle saw something else entirely. Her talent as a Dancer earned her renown, but it was compassion that led her to master White Magic. She refused to believe that strength existed solely to destroy. Healing became another form of protection—a promise that those she loved would never stand alone. That promise would eventually lead her to Gunmetal Pendragon.

Where others saw the scars of his experiments and the monstrous power of the Caelum Core, Zahrah saw the man still fighting to remain himself. She never pitied him, never feared him, and never treated him like something broken. Instead, she became his anchor. The bond between them grew into something unshakable, forged through hardship, trust, and countless battles fought side by side. Eventually, they married, becoming inseparable both on and off the battlefield.Together they founded BYTE Nightclub, transforming it into one of the most iconic venues in Solution Nine—a place where mercenaries, adventurers, outcasts, and celebrities alike could leave their troubles at the door. While Gunmetal oversees security and operations, Zahrah is the heart of the establishment. She knows every regular by name, remembers every celebration, and somehow manages to make everyone feel welcome.Everyone......unless they threaten her husband.

Those who know Zahrah best often joke that she has two personalities. The first is warm, playful, flirtatious, and endlessly charismatic. She'll laugh with friends until sunrise, dance without hesitation, and heal strangers without asking for anything in return. The second is the one almost nobody survives seeing. The instant someone endangers Gunmetal, a switch flips. Her smile disappears. Her movements become unnervingly calm. Her voice lowers to an almost gentle whisper. It's that quietness that unsettles people most.Rumors spread through adventuring circles that Zahrah has "psycho bitch" energy when protecting her husband—not because she's unstable, but because of the terrifying certainty with which she acts. She doesn't scream. She doesn't threaten. She simply decides someone has crossed a line and proceeds with chilling precision. To her, there is no negotiation when Gunmetal's safety is involved. No second chances. No mercy.

Those lucky enough to escape with only a warning never forget the look in her eyes—a calm, unwavering promise that if they ever threatened him again, she would finish what she started.Ironically, Gunmetal is often the only person capable of calming her once that protective instinct takes over. A single word from him is enough to bring her back, reminding her that the woman he fell in love with is still beneath the storm.Together they are often described as two halves of the same tempest.Gunmetal is the lightning—raw, overwhelming power barely contained.Zahrah is the eye of the storm—beautiful, composed, and deceptively peaceful until someone makes the mistake of disturbing that calm. Many fear Gunmetal's strength. Those who truly know the Pendragons fear the woman standing beside him even more.Because if Gunmetal falls...Zahrah won't stop until the world remembers exactly why no one threatens a Pendragon.

Sakura Pavilion

Sakura Pavilion – A Legacy of BlossomsLong ago, in the wake of the Calamity that reshaped Eorzea, a group of like-minded adventurers sought to create something lasting—not a mercenary band driven by coin or a military force bound by duty, but a sanctuary where all could find peace, purpose, and kinship. They named their home Sakura Pavilion, inspired by the fleeting beauty of the cherry blossoms—symbols of both the transience of life and the strength of renewal.Founded by a wandering samurai and a retired Sharlayan scholar, Sakura Pavilion first took root in the tranquil gardens of the East, where wisdom and harmony flourished alongside skill and ambition. With their combined knowledge, the founders created a place where warriors, artisans, and scholars alike could grow. Those who walked its halls were encouraged to refine their skills, seek knowledge, and uphold a bond of camaraderie stronger than steel. As word of the Pavilion spread, adventurers from all walks of life found themselves drawn to its doors—wayfarers seeking refuge, lost souls searching for belonging, and warriors eager to hone their craft in the pursuit of a greater purpose. What began as a humble gathering of dreamers soon blossomed into a renowned Free Company, its members known for their unity in battle and their warmth in fellowship.Though Sakura Pavilion embraces peace, its members stand ever ready to defend Eorzea from the ever-looming threats of Primals, Garlean legions, and the unknown horrors lurking in the shadows. But in times of respite, the Pavilion remains a place of laughter, shared meals, and the soft flutter of cherry petals carried by the wind—a reminder that even in a world of strife, beauty and friendship endure.Through victory and hardship, through times of celebration and sorrow, Sakura Pavilion thrives—its members bound by the unbreakable ties of family, as enduring as the roots of the sakura tree."Under the blossoms, we stand together. Under the stars, we forge our legacy."
